Johann Eyvindsson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Seminar – September 2018

Robin French with Johann Eyvindsson - September 2018

Wanting to support as many Gracie Jiu Jitsu seminars as we can, especially when they are with those with a Pedro Sauer lineage, myself and a group of  Team Pedro Sauer UK members headed to Southend Combat Academy for a session with Johann Eyvindsson.

With Saturday morning’s regular class finishing an hour earlier now, and the seminar not starting until an hour later at 1pm, we had plenty of time for the journey down from Chelmsford to Southend-on-Sea.

Before the seminar started, Johann had conducted a Blue Belt test; the new belts for which were presented at the beginning if the session. Well done guys!

The focus of this session was guard, and how to use it in a safe, punchproof manner.  I picked up some great tweaks on some material I had seen before, and also a couple of fresh new things to try out.

As ever with any of Johann’s seminars, there was a load of dry humour to accompany the sizeable dose of great martial arts. Which always makes for a great time on the mats!

At the close of the seminar, Team Pedro Sauer UK member Jamie Schramm was awarded the first stripe on his Blue Belt. Congratulations again buddy!

After getting some photos and having a quick chat, we got going; getting back out of town on the Southend Arterial.

Thanks to Johann for yet another great session, and to Simon for hosting!
